Nebket

The ancient city of Nekheb, now called El Kab was situated across the Nile from the city of Nekhen (Herakonpolis), and was the site of temples to Thoth and Nebket. The city has been dated back to predynastic times.

It was an important administrative centers for the nome and southern Egypt. El Kab remained an important cult center through Ptolomaic times for the god Nebket.

Nebket

Nebket was the vulture goddess who, along with the cobra goddess Wadjet, protected the Pharaoh.

The Vulture goddess Nebket was worship in cult ritual at El Kab in Upper Egypt.

The Cobra, Wadjet, and the Vulture, Nebket, were incorporated into the crowns of the king as protective talismen. Tutankhamun's jewelery has many beautiful examples of this symbolism of Nebket and Wadjet..

The Cobra symbolized Upper Egypt and the Vulture symbolized Lower Egypt.
