There are hundreds of shops in the Khan El Khalili. The shop of Edward Junior, the Gallery, has a unique mix of silver jewelery and African handicrafts. When I was there, I bought both.

Contact: Mobile Phone in Egypt - 0123318649 Vendor Story: Edward Junior sells Silver Jewelery and African masks and carvings. The silver is sold by weight. Negotiate a price for the pieces based on the daily commodity price of silver and an adjustment for the amount of weight represented in the stones. Workmanship is sort of thrown in there somewhere. The wooden pieces are negotiated based on the usual bargaining. Edward Junior was very courteous to me and bought me lunch the next day when I returned to pick up the carvings (local pizza delivered to the shop). Later, just before I left Cairo, I came back to have one of the pendants fixed onto a necklace and he did this and a few other adjustments at no charge. Souvenirs: I bought a pair of earrings and two pendants modeled after the double headed ducks of Amun on Rameses bracelets in the Museum. Three wooden carved frogs and an African elephant carving. |
