Taking your own pictures of the colorful camels at the pyramid will immediately put you in close contact with the owner of the camel! They make their living dressing up themselves and their camel, and expect baksheesh for your taking their picture. We didn't know this, and the guide had to ask the camel driver to forgive us the baksheesh as we were new to Egypt! We later took a great video of a camel named Canasta and it's owner, with suitable baksheesh agreed beforehand, of course. |
Souvenir Photos: Camels at the Giza Pyramids
The best souvenir is, of course, a picture. Here is the picture taken of Ken and me as we went for the camel ride just after dawn at the Pyramids of Giza. The camel driver taking the picture surprised us. He was not a bit fazed by either the new still camera or the movie camera.
